Counseling for People Of All Faiths

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND MISSION:

To offer programs for pastoral and psycotherapeutic counseling and education for continuing development of interpersonal life skills.

To express the commitment of Trinity United Methodist Church to healing and wholeness through an inclusive outreach ministry within the Christian context.

In a broken and wounded world, torn and fragmented by alienation, new possibilities for the transformation of both the human heart and human society exist in interconnection, much as the two beams of the Christian cross.  The heart of the Christian gospel is the vision of a new world in which human beings will be truly free to love -- self, others, and God.   Pastoral counseling keeps this vision central, even as it draws upon the insights of psychology.

YOUR COUNSELOR

Your counselor will be an experienced clergy or lay person who has received clinical training, advanced education in pastoral counseling, and national certification.   All counselors are licensed in the state of Maryland.  Insights from both psychology and religious faith will assist you as you face your difficulties and grow into healing and wholeness.

A video containing an introduction by the pastor of the church, a role play explaining pastoral counseling, and a description of pastoral counseling by the Director of Trinity Pastoral Counceling Center is available to borrow upon request.

The counselors are:
Pam Hewetson, M.S., N.C.C., L.C.P.C.
